Hank 'The Beast' McCoy
Introduction

xxxxx Hank's personality is constantly at war with the bestial instincts awoken by his mutation. Hank's natural tendency is to be a man of arts and science. He loves classical music, interesting conundrums, and scientific discovery. Over time he has mastered his temper and rage issues, but under the right circumstances, they can resurface again.

History

xxxxx Hank's early childhood did not go particularly smoothly. Part of his mutation was evident at birth. Even as a young boy Hank had prehensile feet, longer than normal arms and legs, and large hands. He was also physically stronger and more agile than anyone else his age. He tried to funnel his talents into athletics, but he was quickly shunned in that arena for only winning as a 'freak'. Fortunately for Hank, he was also born a genius. He acquired his first degree in Genetic Biology by age 16, his second degree in theoretical physics by 17, and his PhD in Advanced Applied Genetics by age 20.

xxxxx Hank's worked in a number of different scientific fields, genetics, biochemistry, theoretical physics. While working for a genetics research firm, Hank thought he had perfected a 'cure' for his mutation and pursued it vigorously. After much internal debate he finally decided to test the drug on himself. It worked completely - for about an hour, at which point his mutation reversed, and with interest. This is when his strength and healing factor truly went off the charts as well, and he also sprouted the thick, bright blue fur all over his body. He spent weeks wrestling with the rage constantly trying to bubble up through this new form. Eventually he got it under control, but not by himself. It was only through the help of Professor Xavier that Beast found the inner calm to be both Hank AND the Beast, without going on a rampage every time someone stole his stapler.

xxxxx Now Hank sticks close to Xavier's X-Men, providing his profound technical expertise, and emotional guidance as an advisor to particularly troubled students at the school.

Powers

xxxxxClaws: Hank has developed claws on his hands and feet. He can use them for rending and tearing in combat. They're also strong enough to use against most metals and help in climbing on most surfaces.

xxxxxStrength: Hank is strong enough to throw a human being quite some ways. He can also flip a car over, though he couldn't just lift one over his head.

xxxxxSuper senses: Like most wild animals, Beast does not have better than average day time vision, but he does have exceptional night vision, hearing and a very discerning sense of smell, surpassing even Wolverine's.

Skills

xxxxxResearcher: Hank is well-versed in the /process/ of doing research. It almost doesn't matter what the topic is. He is methodical, and thorough, and given time can assemble a comprehensive dossier on almost any topic.

xxxxxScience! Hank has advanced degrees in several branches of the sciences, leading to an encyclopedic understanding at an interdisciplinary level. He makes connections others can't or won't see, and is able to push research to the next level resulting in several discoveries only made available to Xavier, like their jet, and suits for instance.

xxxxxLetters: Hank is a man of letters. He's well-read in a variety of topics and has an expansive knowledge of history, literature and the arts.

xxxxxCombat: Hank is an exceptionally talented and experienced hand-to-hand combatant. He's tried at various times to perfect ranged weapons that would work with his hand-shape, but most of the time he needs all fours to run, and nothing has ever worked out correctly.

xxxxxPilot: Hank is an experienced pilot. The Blackbird is his design after all. He can also fly just about any aircraft known to man.
