Sophie

The ghost was the spookiest ghost in the world, and she was so spooky that if you saw her you'd be scared, for real!

Introduction

xxxxxA fairly typical teenager, really, Sophie isn't really used to being around other mutants and not having to keep secrets about her odd abilities; this whole lifestyle change is fairly overwhelming, to be honest.

History

xxxxxUp until she got to be about 13, her life was fairly normal for a girl living in the sticks. She'd go to school, hang out with friends, do her homework, go to school dances, project ghastly images of herself in neighboring houses in the middle of the night---

---and it wasn't until that last thing started happening that Sophie's parents started to think something might be Amiss. It started out simple, a neighbor telling them about getting up for a midnight snack and having a moment where they could have /sworn/ they'd seen Sophie - in her nightgown, no less! - standing in their kitchen, but she was gone by the time they realized what they were seeing. After hearing this the first time, they laughed it off, but a month later and a different neighbor... and then a couple months after that...

... Ultimately, arrangements were made for Sophie to attend Xavier's Academy starting in this year's Spring term, and it looks like she'll be stuck there through the end of her senior year.

Powers

xxxxxSophie's power is essentially a form of 'astral' projection, only instead of the astral plane, she is able to transport her awareness across the physical plane, along with a visible - but non-corporeal - image of herself. In practice, this amounts to the ability to create a hologram of herself that she can use to interact with anyone who might be where her projection is. She is able to see what the projection would be able to see, to hear anything in the area, and to speak but, except with some limitations, almost entirely unable to touch anything.

At a far closer range, within about 50 meters, she has gotten to be able to manipulate physical objects. Thus far, this is limited to small things - with enough concentration, she can push a door open, or flip a light switch, but she isn't at the level where she'd be able to use anything more complex than that without either failing, or completely over-exerting herself.

Connections

Friends

  • Faelan - As far as Sophie is concerned, Faelan is a sweet guy, if a little on the dull side. (Sorry, Faelan!!) Still, she likes him well enough.
  • Kisha - Roomies! She is a little weird but otherwise is nice enough. They don't necessarily always get along.
  • Peter - He is super weird but also super nice and pretty much impossible not to get along with??
  • Kurt - She used to have a crush on him but has gradually gotten over that.
  • Kai - Sophie is gradually coming to think of him as sort of like a cute little brother. He's adorkable.
  • Aloke - Sophie hasn't interacted with him much but she does think he's nice. Probably won't be taking any of his classes, though.
  • Hank - Sweet once you get used to him.

Foes

And everything in between

  • Ivan - Sophie doesn't know him very well but he seems like a good guy.
  • Rasa - Sophie finds Rasa a bit intimidating. Not necessarily in a bad way, she just still hasn't figured out how to interact.
  • Sophie - Eh, she's ok.
