Mutant Incident Division

Introduction xxxxxFounded in July 2014 after the personal intervention of Mayor Elliott Carruthers, the Mutant Incident Division serves as the specialized crime response and prevention unit for mutant related crime in New York City. Though primarily created to serve as an adjunct to the ESU for mutant-involved crimes, it has become the de facto unit for all mutant related crime through disinterest and overall neglect by other members of the NYPD. The department is unique at the NYPD for allowing (in fact, requiring) its police officers to be mutants themselves. Unit Strength xxxxxBorn in Moultrie, Georgia, Eric joined the Sheriff's Department when he turned 18 years old. He grew to be a proud member of the SWAT team for several years, until he was thrown off the force by a new, anti-mutant hardline Mayor. He moved to the big city and joined the New York City Police Department. After several years working the beat in the Garment District, and a brief time as a bicycle officer, Eric was briefly terminated due to his registration as a mutant. Thanks to some friends in soon-to-be-high places, and the election of Elliott, Eric was reinstated as the head of the NYPD Freak Squad Mutant Incident Division: an all-mutant division of sworn officers responding to reports of crime committed by and against mutants. xxxxxEric's team is popular neither with police nor many mutants themselves, but his small team of officers is tight-knit and frequently in the thick of things.
