Introduction

xxxxxStanding in at five foot nine and weighing around one hundred and fifty pounds, Sloan would be a strong and imposing figure even without her mutation making her seem even larger. Every inch of her skin is covered in a thick pelt of fur, finer along her arms, legs, belly and face but longer over her head, throat, shoulders and back. The fur is layered and silky, and a brilliant snowy white in sunshine. The fluffiness of it adds to her dimensions and disguises the oft-exercised physique beneath, giving her a plump appearance--especially in full clothing. Capping off the changes to her body are a pair of soft folded ears beneath her hair, and a long bushy tail which is usually hidden via being strapped to a leg.

xxxxxHer face is longer than the norm, especially her nose and jaw, echoing the canine aspect of her mutation. She is fond of huge, cheerful grins but given the toothiness of her mouth, this is not really a good thing. Her eyes are two-toned, one a bright amber and the other a clear winter blue. Though her hands remain human, each finger is crowned with a thick white curved nail, more claw than proper fingernail.

History

xxxxxYonkers, New York. Home to the Harper family, a large and cheerful bunch known for its immense brood of sons, lone daughter, and chain of self-defense schools. Sloan's childhood was normal, albeit busy, typical of all children whose family is entrepreneurial. She was raised to be hard-working, helping out around her dad's boxing gym or her brothers' brazilian jiu-jitsu dojos. It was the tradition that when coming of age, each child--provided they had excelled in their business management education--was gifted upon graduation with the down payment for their own gym, studio or dojo.

xxxxxSloan was no exception, though her progression through the family tradition was stalled somewhat when, at fourteen, she began sprouting fur. Theirs was a large and clannish family, and mutations were not unknown. She had an older brother who was an excellent personal trainer thanks to his abilities, an uncle who could talk to crows, and several cousins with assorted powers. It took a few years before Sloan's mutation was finished running its course through her body and during that time, they felt it best to keep her homeschooled to avoid the prejudice in the local community and make certain she had the training and self-confidence to live with such a visible mutation. Fortunately, she was not the shrinking violet type and at the age of twenty, decided to move to the Bronx to open up her own gym, where she would offer both boxing and MMA style fighting instruction.

xxxxxIt was a challenge, of course, but one she adored. The gym was never going to attract the anti-mutant crowd but in time the locals came to realize Sloan was community-minded and quick to lend a hand, which draw some regular patrons. Other fitness buffs overlooked her appearance and came to appreciate her as both an instructor and a sparring partner. She looked after those she deemed to be her own, and gave back where she could, and her gym flourished where other small businesses were shutting down due to the economy.

xxxxxSo it wasn't the perfect life, but for a mutant, it was as ideal as it was likely to become. Until both her training and her appearance caught the eye of gentlemen tied to an underground fighting ring that pitted mutants against mutants. About a month ago, Sloan disappeared and her missing persons report was shunted to the bottom of the pile with the NYPD. Her family descended en masse on her gym, brothers lending a hand to keeping it running and her mother trying to maintain a grassroots campaign to find her daughter.

xxxxxSadly, it hasn't received the attention necessary to help bring Sloan home. On the bright side...she's still alive.

Powers

xxxxxPhysically, Sloan possesses above average strength and stamina. She is not /fast/ but she can take a licking and keep on ticking, while doing a brutal amount of damage to those she's up against. She's also equipped with sharp teeth and thick nails that can act as claws. Her fur provides a small amount of natural armor, particularly the ruff around her throat and chest. Her senses have also benefited from her mutation, with her sense of smell being top notch, and her vision and hearing both being above average and superior to humans--though she does see color spectrums through a dog's eyes (see http://dog-vision.com/ for examples of how she perceives the world), she can hear well outside of the range of human beings. Yes...dog whistles really do work.

Turncoat? - Her fellow captives aren't all happy that she's become the unofficial pet and mascot of their captors.
Community - In spite of being a mutant, Sloan at one time was a respected member of her (small) community, and part of a large family. Her going missing has been noticed.
