xxxxxBorn in Stevens Point, WI, Anette Eccleston was the only child of a high school history teacher and a housewife. She had a rather quiet and normal childhood, though she never had many friends and preferred spending time with herself, though she was very close with her family.She slowly discovered her powers in beginning in middle school, though she didn't realize that's what they were. At first, she thought she just had exceptional hearing and eyesight, including the ability to see in the dark. However, she realized something was very different when she grew wings on her back. The wings lead to her extensive leather jacket collection. Her parents noticed just as quickly and she was quickly pulled from school. This didn't prevent the bullying and humiliation though. Her parents, unsure of what to do, found Xavier's school. They sent her there and she finished high school, while also discovering her powers.
xxxxxHowever, she found herself at odds with the school's stance on mutant/human relations. She refused to believe it could happen peacefully and felt the only way was to fight back against injustices. She gained very few friends in school this way, though she did gain knowledge of the Brotherhood of Mutants. At 18, once she graduated, she took off for New York to find the Brotherhood and join them.
xxxxxAfter assisting in rescue efforts after an explosion in an apartment building, Anette finally got the Brotherhood's attention and joined their ranks. A loyal and effective member, she is not without some controversy. When people began dreaming of the future, Anette began dreaming of herself with advanced powers but also alone and with a child. The dreams eventually revealed the father as Daken, whom she had only just started a casual relationship with in the present time. More shockingly, her future self was in love with him. An avid believer of emotions complicating things, she felt betrayed by her own head for falling in love. Daken however, took it as a sign that they were meant to be more than friends. Anette found herself falling for him in the present and, despite her best efforts, found herself seriously dating him. When she died in the dreams rescuing her child from a lab, she snapped, suffering nightmares. Not knowing how to cope, she turned to snorting cocaine.
xxxxxFor the length of their relationship, Anette slowly continued to fall in love with Daken and, for the first time, opened herself up to another person and let him. Still, this was new territory for her and she was terrified and anxious. That and the constant fighting and doubts made that time both the best and the worst time of her life. To cope, she began snorting more frequently, eventually smoking when powder wasn't enough.
xxxxxShe also managed to make herself slightly infamous. During a drunken outing with Ion, she was caught on camera destroying sentinels. When a big green guy raged out in Central Park, an attempt to save police from being attacked resulted in a bullet in her leg. These incidents, on an already unstable mind, found her lashing out at those close to her, blaming Ion for her leg. Having already attacked those she blamed for her future selves problems, she was told in no uncertain terms she needed to take control of her life. Eventually, she realized her anger issues were out of control and attempted to mend most of the burnt bridges. Most.
xxxxxWhen Daken left her, she was heartbroken, yet somehow relieved. Emotionally free for the first time in months, she immediately went back to her old ways. Casual relationships, letting no one in, remaining emotionally distant. However, her drug addiction and set in and she was smoking near daily. Despite warnings and concern from friends, Anette refused to quit until she was attacked by her dealer. Realizing the dangerous position she had put herself in, she finally stepped away from drugs. During this time, she also contracted the zombie virus, becoming severely affected and attacking several people close to her before getting the cure. Enduring these hardships, she finally realized the strength of not being alone.
