Introduction

xxxxxBookish. Introverted. Maybe a little uptight. This newly-minted X-Man is here to help usher in a new generation of responsible, progressive mutants. Hopefully.

History

xxxxxGrowing up in Mexico, Rictor never fully understood what his father was involved in until the day they took him away. They came in cars and helicopters, lights flashing, screaming. They pulled him (12 at the time), his brothers, and his sisters from the pool. His mother was inside making tamales. They told him later that the relative luxury they enjoyed was funded by his father's work in an illegal gun-smuggling outfit. They told him the ensuing earthquake that leveled three blocks that same day was just a coincidence, that nobody saw it coming. Rictor, who could easily turn a blind eye to his father's work, knew better. The quake was his fault.

xxxxxThe event that triggered his mutant powers that day was picked up by international news feeds. They reported on the raid, the smuggling operation, the arrest of his parents and nine others, and the dramatic natural occurrence that followed. None suggested that anything out of the ordinary happened, and the word "mutant" was never mentioned. Still, as custody was being arranged for Rictor and his siblings, a representative of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters approached Rictor with an offer. Clearly, someone had taken a closer look at the boy than any reporter was probably inclined to.

xxxxxThe next thing Rictor knew, he was in New York. Paperwork was filed and soon he was legally in the United States and enrolled in Xavier's prep school. He learned that he was a mutant and what that meant. For six years, he studied alongside others like him, learning to master his gifts while growing both physically and academically. He found that he had a knack for programming and focused his studies in the computer lab. As he neared graduation, he was approached by Xavier to stay on at the school, help teach others as he had been taught, and join group of developed mutants who assisted him with sensitive projects.

xxxxxRictor decided to forego furthering his stay at Xavier's, citing his family and personal affairs as the main reason. Really, he wanted to see more of the world. So, after spending some time with his siblings in Mexico, he flew to Europe where he studied computer science in Spain and explored Europe. Though he only returned to North America a handful of times over the following years, he was keenly aware of the developments affecting mutants in the US. He kept in contact with students, fellow alumni, and staff at Xavier's and even consulted them at times. Recently, a second offer was extended to him to return to the school. This time he took it, intrigued at the opportunity to teach, and moreseo to take part in the professor's elite team of mutants.

Powers

xxxxxRictor creates and manipulates seismic energy. He can affect organic and inorganic matter to various effects, including causing tremors and earthquakes. This affinity with the earth also gifts Rictor with a psychic/empathic connection with Earth's biosphere. Ask him about it sometime.
