OK, really our next order of business should be to come up with a better name. Because I've done some Research (namely, I googled "cohousing" after Jax first told me about this hippie bullshit) and apparently every cohousing group under the sun actually has a NAME. And most of them aren't names like freakshow either.

I mean actually I kind of like it, except it's eminently likely to get us bombed, and while I did make the Clinic ridiculously bombproof, it was also expensive as hell and we don't have those kinds of funds.

Right, but actually, there's real business too. I've linked a FEW different sites where there's pretty decent sized lots where we have a pretty good chance of being able to afford basically entire blocks of property, if enough people get in on buying, I think. So what we really actually need now is to know who is for ACTUALLY sure interested in really, seriously, actually committing to this project, 'cause there's been a lot of maybe but who's gonna be in this for real? Because if we want to do this, I think we should get together this weekend and check out sites. The first few are around Manhattan (mainly Lower East/East Village/Alphabet City because that's around where most of us are now; there's a few out in Harlem/East Harlem, too) but there's a couple down at the bottom in Brooklyn too 'cause they're also dirt cheap and bigger. I don't know what people's feelings are on other boroughs. I can axe them from my search entirely if people are opposed; I know more than a few of you are in school and most of you with not-home jobs are Manhattan based so commutes would be hell.

Everyone who is really, truly, seriously interested in committing to getting in on this cohousing project, please weigh in ASAP on a) your interest and b) times IN THE UPCOMING WEEK (optimally, weekend) you'd like to come with me to check out properties that we can build on.

After this we can start making concrete building plans to move ahead with.

And pick out a freaking name.

I'm in, certainly.

While I'm rather charmed, actually, by the name freakshow, I agree there are some security concerns. Perhaps we can name it Mutant Freakshow. Terrorist Mutant Freakshow.

I probably shouldn't put that in an email.

Deepest apologies.

I can make my weekend free, additionally.

Dude, you know there is a backspace key. And you can use it. Before sending emails, even!

Actually no, Terrorist Mutant Freakshow is the best name. We could call it Jackson Holland's Terrorist Mutant Freakshow, even.

Let's just call it Revolution.

Is there? My apologies, again. In my excitement over our upcoming terrorism it must have slipped my mind.

Or over calculus. Also exciting.

We can call it Daybreak. That is about where I will have arrived by the time I finish this assignment.

Calculus. Exciting... Does not compute.

Daybreak, though, you left terrorist and went back to hippie again. Though I guess when you get down to it it's kind of really the same thing.

Hive, what the fuck. Who writes emails at midnight. And kids, who CHECKS email at midnight. Christ, I just got this now.

Anyway, this old dog is in. But I'm bringing my Mexican and a bad attitude.

Give me a time. I'll be there with wheels. We'll go house shopping in style.

ps I'm not helping with naming this abomination we're birthing. With apartments it's all -groves and -lakes and -views. Bullshit.

Went property-shopping today. Pared down the list to a couple likely candidates. My first choice will need some bodies removed but really, that just makes it more affordable.

It's right next to a convent near the river. I hope that's not going to make anyone back out. Have some second choices if we're outbid.

We could have a river-cleanup day! Or okay maybe SEVERAL river-cleanup... weekends really. Ongoing project. The East River needs maybe a lot of love. A lot a lot a lot of love. But oh my gosh so exciting. I might need my excitement reined in because I kind of want to build ALL THE THINGS and that's probably not... exactly really reasonable but aaa.

Maybe we can call it Confluence. Like when little streams meet and become rivers. Water can take on pretty much anything.

I mean I'm also in favor of calling BASICALLY EVERYTHING Revolution but you know me.

Solidarity,

Jax

If we are going radical we should call it Nucleus. Radicals want to get to the root of issues, don't they? And the nucleus is at the center of everything.

I wonder how many bodies are still IN the East River.

Hm. Maybe something like Sanctuary. Or Haven.

Consider this my notice of interest. Is our new home going to be haunted?

I'm partial to Haven and Sanctuary. Possibly Port or Harbor. Some place peaceful in a storm. Crossroads?

If it's off the water front, Banks may be appropriate. It is where all the riffraff washes up from a current.

Sincerely,
Parley

I'm not sure about haunted, but I can guarantee you at least one zombie. What does that count for? I would like a good haunting, though, to be honest. It gives a place a certain ambiance.

Harbor. I like that one a lot. Crossroads feels like a place where people just pass through which -- I'm sure it will be too. And people pass through harbors in crisis /also/ but. They're safe places when everything else isn't.

Oh, man, I forgot we're getting our very own mascot zombie. Paying rent and everything. Sweet deal. If we DID get a ghost in on top of that it'd be perfect.

Greetings,

Jayna and myself are still very interested in this project. I can take some time to view sites, if you still need additional input, but Jayna isn't quite up to being outside for too long with the weather lately.

As for names, I vote for Sanctuary or Harbor. Or possibly a combination, especially if we wind up on the water - HavenPort? I'm horrible at coming up with names.

Cheers,
Hanna and Jayna

Um, sorry, I never check my email. ^_^; Should probably get a computer now that I have Capital. Anyway, please count me in! Orz

I'm bad at naming stuff. Cf. my name. So I'm leaving that alone. Re looking at sites, I'm getting some time off for Lunar New Year, so...whenever? Not that I have any useful skills in the real estate area. Or any strong opinions about Locations, really.
