18 March 2014

Everyone ever is getting put into First Aid Boot Camp after this. Just sayin'. (Fairly simultaneous with the events in the Lofts.)

Location

<NYC> Tompkins Square Park - East Village

Small but popular, this tree-lined park is a perfect centerpiece to the eclectic neighborhood it resides in. Home to a number of playgrounds and courts from handball to basketball, it also houses a dog park and chess tables, providing excellent space for people watching -- especially during its frequent and often eccentric festivals, from Wigstock to its yearly Allen Ginsberg tribute Howl festival.

It got cold again. Micah has finally given in to winter wear once more, perhaps a little melodramatically so, and is decked out in Jayne hat, Fourth Doctor scarf, olive puffy coat, and thin green gradient gloves layered under fingerless Wishbear-themed ones. His khakis and work shoes poke out from beneath the piles of fabric, betraying that he is just getting home from work. Or, you know, the giant TARDIS van with the gorilla in a racing wheelchair emblazoned on the side could give it away, too. Just maybe. Parking was less ideal than usual, putting him off catty-corner to the park today, where he and his companion will need to cut through. He hops down from the driver's side over to open the passenger door, holding out a hand to help said companion, in the form of Hive, down from the high vehicle and over through the park. "Y'know what games we're playin' tonight?" he asks idly as he...somehow manages to /shiver/ in his get-up.

Hive isn't quite as bundled, shabby threadbare canvas coat over his Grumpy Bear hoodie, heavy workboots, faded old fraying jeans, his soft fleecy Theta Tau cap. No scarf, no gloves; his hand is rather noticeably shaky when he reaches to accept Micah's help down from the vehicle, and he leans against the other man's side once he's on his (unsteady) legs. He answers Micah at first with just a noncommital grunt before: "Ran into Rasa at the game store today. Told hir to buy Nuns on the Run. Though nobody ever lets me be Mother Superior." Perhaps because in a game that relies on secrecy having a telepath as antagonist gets rather /pointless/ very quick. But he's going to grouse about it /anyway/. "Can play whatever though. You in the mood for something?"

Hailey groans a little and sighs. "Damn it's cold here..." She mumbles and growls a bit, blowing into her hands as she pulls her hoody tighter around her, her scarf wound tightly around her neck. "I love the state but this damned thing..." she sighs more, blowing warm air up towards her nose to try and warm herself as she walks through the park. She's a scruffy rebellious girl with what looks to be black and blue dyed hair and just kinda walking around now, her eyes darting around a little bit.

Parking is always a mess in NYC. Sage's silver sportsbike pulls up in the parking lot they're at, parking next to Lucille. Pulling her motorcycle helmet off, placing it on the back, and putting ATHENA on over her bright blue eyes, she looks around, spotting Micah and Hive get out, as she dismounts from her bike. "Micah. Hive. Hello." A tip of the head as she readjusts ATHENA.

Sage is wearing a thick gray leather jacket, a pair of blue jeans, and boots, ATHENA's red tint replacing her biker helmet.

Public parks! Where better to do your criminal activity than right in the middle of the open spaces where no one would think to look and there isn't a camera on every freaking corner of every freaking street? Wearing his trench and hat once more the form of Telford can be seen in the distance talking to a man making some kind of arrangement. Brown on brown mixes well with the winter colors of the park and he stands between a cluster of trees to make his deal. Something small is exchanged between the two men then the man in the jogging clothing continues his jog as Telford leans back against a tree to vape up and be happy that his plan is coming together. He should have everything he need to pull off the job. In his apartment...right over there.

Anette is walking through the park, not quite as bundled as some but she appears comfortable. She's wearing a leather jacket as usual, though it is admittedly one of her thicker ones. Besides that though, it's skinny jeans, leather heeled boots, black felt gloves, and a black knitted hat. She seems to be keeping to herself mostly. Other than the fact she's listening in on conversations as she passes, the actual decibel levels apparently not much of an issue. One of them comes in unusually clear and she turns, noticing the blue-haired girl up ahead and realizing she's talking to herself. She smirks slightly and, once she's close enough for the other girl to hear her, can't help but respond. "Talk to yourself often? Or have you got an invisible friend?"

Hailey looks over at the other girl, an obvious disdain for the cold making her levy her eyes at her. "No I don't talk to myself often, it's just friggen cold! Too damned cold to walk around here," she huffs and blows her breath across her hands, trying to warm her hands up more. She looks the other girl over to see who she was to be judging her anyways.

Micah looks over Hive's sparse outerwear and actually /tuts/ at him, unwinding his scarf to wrap around the other man without asking. “Y'don't wear enough for it t'be this cold while you're that thin. Got no padding on you.” He /also/ slides the fingerless gloves off to start pulling them over Hive's hands unless he protests /too/ hard. “Spence is home t'night. I was thinkin' of bringin' 'im along an' pullin' out somethin' his speed at least at first, if he doesn't have a lotta homework. Maybe Dixit or the like.” He offers a small wave to Sage once he recognises the woman greeting them. “Evenin', Sage. What brings you out t'these parts on a school night?” He's sort of walking and talking at this point, so it may take some /following/ to maintain conversation with him.

"My girlfriend lives on the same floor as you. Do you know Araceli?" Sage's voice is emotionless as usual, as she adjusts ATHENA. "I am picking her up so that we can go spend time together. But, yes, I am aware it is a school night. I am ambivalent on how to feel about this." Sage tilts her head, before looking at the Lofts. "How are you doing, Micah?"

Cold? Really? Anette can't help but laugh a bit. "Sorry...sorry...I'm originally from Wisconsin. I've been in a LOT colder than this." She pauses a moment, seeming to freeze up and turn her head slightly. A gentle smirk plays on her face before she blinks and shakes her head clear. "Sorry, got...distracted. If it's too cold to be wandering around, what are you doing walking around then?"

Hailey huffs and stamps her foot a little bit. "It's still friggen cold here." She shivers a little. "And I'm out here because I wanna be, I'm new and I wanna look around, is that a crime?" She seems awfully cocky, her eyebrow twitching a little bit as she blows a long hair strand out of her face.

Finishing his fake cigarette and feeling better, the trench coat clad figure in the wide brim hat turns to walk back towards said apartment building taking a twinky out of his pocket to eat while he walks. He'll have to go by the gathering but he's not really in the mood to stop and chatter he needs to get home and verify the data he just purchased! Everything is going so well, then again things go well for him most of the time as long as he keeps a low profile. He does walk a little slower than normal having had a had an accident recently but he's recovering. Just a little stiff in his everything still.

"Oh my god stop /fretting/." Hive tugs at the scarf as Micah wraps it around him, but he doesn't actually take it off. "Jesus Christ I'm sick I'm not made of -- glass /oh my god/." This second oh my god comes at the fingerless glove addition. With his mind rather /alert/ as ever to the various surface thoughts of those around, it's the feel of a familiar /mind/ in the park that pulls the telepath to a stop, halting at Micah's side and turning his eyes over in Telford's direction. "-- Oh, shit. I saw that asshole at the game store -- uh, I should probably apologize, I think I kind of --"

But whatever Hive has to apologize for is preempted by a sudden cracking /boom/, a flare of light, a raining shower of glass and rubble from across the street. From the Lofts -- somewhere around third-story height, though it's already touched the fourth and second floors -- there's a sudden brilliant flare of flame and smoke.

Hive's fingers tighten /sharp/-hard against Micah's arm, his breath sucked in in sudden gasp.

"Ain't got nothin' t'do with your bein' sick. S'got t'do with it's cold an'...yes, I'm frettin', but y'know darn well I do it t'everybody." So there. Now Hive is properly dressed and...Micah is still in /layers/ despite giving up the majority of his knit gear. "Oh, yes, I've met Araceli 'round. Didn't know y'all were datin', though, somehow. Guess it just didn't come up. Sure explains why we run into each other so much, don't it?" He chuckles along with this reply to Sage, half-turned around backward to regard her while he speaks. So it is that the /sounds/ of the explosion and Hive's gasp are the first things that clue him in. "Hive, what...?" The rest of the words never get a chance to form on his lips. "Ohgosh.Ohno.Hive." He just stares across the road for a time. "Hive, Hive, can y'hear anyone over there?" Panicky, his hand fumbles into his pocket for his phone, making plans to call...anyone at the Lofts? The fire department? Anyone who can magically make this /not/ be happening.

As the building goes aflame, Sage doesn't have time to respond. No, she's speaking to someone else. "ATHENA, panic." At this point, she's taking her jacket off, putting it onto the bike. "That is the third floor, correct? I have called for help. Elevator is most likely down...is there another way in?" Yes, Sage genuinely wants to find a way in there, as she's glancing up...frantically, an actual emotion of anger on her face.

Anette raises both hands in the air at Hailey's outburst. "No it's not illegal. Whatever you want, just don't come to me for chicken soup when you're sick." She can't help but smirk a little, the attitude reminds her of her high school self. And current self.

The explosion. Anette drops to the ground instantly with a bird-like screech, her hands covering her ears as sudden, excruciating pain fills her head. She kneels there for a moment, collecting herself and waiting for the pain to subside before she looks up. She stares in horror as the building in front of her burns, quickly throwing a hand up to Hailey to keep quiet. She listens in, straining her still ringing ears to pick up what they can. Mostly screams. Screams of the trapped, of the dying.

Hailey looks over towards the explosion as it happens, her cool snapping in that moment. "What the hell? No No No No No." She gasps and almost chokes on the air, her lavender eyes wide and wild, her body trembling a little as her hands clench in her pockets. She needed to hide, needed to go, needed to leave Now now now! She looks around for nearby shadows needing the salvation, needing the security of the dark!

Around the park there's a sudden /squeezing/ crush of mental pressure digging in -- first in Micah's mind in digging pressure, but it soon spirals out to many others. "I can't -- I can't feel --" Hive's grasping tighter at Micah's arm, bony-light weight sinking hard against the other man. "Third floor -- it's the third -- you can't go /in/ the building just –"

Micah just /stares/ at his phone. Sage has the panic button covered. Who to call? The Clinic? The fire department? He finally dials 911 and waits for it to ring, face gone ghostly-pale, feet locked to the ground. "Can't feel...anyone?" And then he starts to tremble. "Spence was home t'night." The phone's ring is oddly loud and hollow.

Anette begins to head towards the building, slowly down and clutching her head as she feels the mental pressure. "Goddamn...fuck, that is that?" she groans, looking up to the building again. She looks around briefly and, deciding the need outweighs the risks, drops her coat completely. Her wings immediately stretch out as she tries to regain her composure and thoughts.

"What do you mean I cannot go into the building? People could be dying. This is my job. Backup is on the way." Sage is being very stubborn right now, probably because..something could have happened. "Spencer, Jax, Araceli. Everyone in there needs help." Even though she's getting the strong thud, she's doing her best to ignore it. Something else is on her mind.

Hailey hits her knees, repeating, "No No No NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!" She's almost screaming, her hands gripping her head hard as she presses her head to the ground, her whole body twitching a bit as the shadows around her, moving around, rising and falling from the ground like liquid. They twine and twitch, rising around her, turning darker as she gasps and pants hard.

Trench coat blown open slightly by the force of the blast, Telford stops looking up suddenly from his inner reverie as...fuck his apartment just exploded... Screams erupt on the street below the house as burning chunks of debris start to rain down on the streets below. Hunks of burning cement topple downward towards a man knocked flat on the sidewalk the largest of which big enough to crush him but everyone is so far away and he'll be squashed in a split second if only someone could reach him! Oh, right...teleporter. VT!

The wave of psychic panic is enough to kick him into gear. The man inside the trench coat vanishes leaving his trench, the hat, his shirt, his pants, his shoes and socks and his laptop behind to fall to the ground. No time to take everything with him he acts instinctively teleporting to the prone man then teleporting back with him.

It happens so fast it's hard to realize what just occurred but now both men are laying on the grass in the park.

The man from the sidewalk scrambling to his feet in panic not knowing what the hell just transpired and the inky black covered body of Telford falls to the ground because for the second and third time today he's had to port improperly. Dropping to his knees the skinny black painted man in his dark gray Star Wars Storm trooper boxer shorts with a chibi-trooper on one side and the words, "The Dark Side made me do it." on the other, can do little more than try and breathe after the two fast, unprotected ports. Panicked citizen-man screams even though he's not in any real danger any more. Silly normal people getting all upset about buildings exploding above them.

Meanwhile, the phone has finally connected. Micah gives the address of the Lofts building and sparse other details including "explosion" and "fire" before he is informed that the fire department has already been dispatched and that he should stay away from the building. An oddly-soft, "Thank you, ma'am," is offered to the operator before he hangs up again. "What do... We can't go in the buildin'. Unless you're...fireproof or. Have the gear to... You'll just go in an' get trapped or burned or suffocated." The statement starts off in a still-stunned kind of flatness, picking up a shriller edge at the recitation of ways that fires can kill people. "Hive," he finally just half-whimpers for lack of a better plan, staring at the building as if it were miles away. For all the good it does him, it might as well be.

"I mean the building just -- fucking -- /exploded/ what would you even --" Hive's mental claws are digging in deeper to any mind he can /grasp/; the sensation cuts off very /suddenly/, though, in a chaotic whirl of panic-stress-worry. Even that soon fades. Hive is staring towards the building with a paling expression. "Can't -- can't feel -- oh shit."

Over in the nearby grass -- still brilliant-colorful from the previous day's revelry -- there's a shimmer-blur, a sudden /appearance/ of a young man, dark-haired and green-eyed and scarred badly -- where there hadn't been before. Flicker deposits a body down in the grass -- a young girl(?), clearly a mutant from the patches of roughened blue skin growing in spottily among the rest of the brown skin, gills slitted down the sides of her neck. She doesn't look to be conscious, clothing smoking and bloody-blistering skin dominating a good portion of what can be seen through the burned-out fabric.

Anette gains enough focus and is about to take off for the building, only to find Hailey crumpled on the ground. Well...it's safer for her to potentially help Haley then fly into a burning building. She kneels to the ground beside Hailey. "What happened, are you ok?" she asks, briefly looking over the girl for wounds as she gently strokes the girl's hair, folding her wings around them both in an attempt to shield them. "What's wrong?"

Sage freezes, as she looks to see who it is. It's not her, as she calls over to Flicker, running over to him. "Flicker! What is going on in there? I called for backup." Sage's voice has a bit of an unfamiliar /rage/ to it, as she speaks over to him. "How bad is it?" Sage is only wearing a t-shirt now, even if the weather doesn't permit it, this is mostly because she wants to /dash in there/.

Hailey groans a little as she feels the grip on her brain relax, she slowly realizes that the her powers had been shown. She quickly looks up and covers her face. "What was that? What did you see?" She narrows her eyes and darts her head around quickly, she was hyperventilating and her hands were clenched. Her eyes were dilated and she was looking around rapidly almost like a scared animal trying to find its way from danger.

Off, slightly distant, in the grassy part of the park, Talford breathes for a few moments trying to catch his breath but the feeling of pressure inside his skull is making it so hard to think and he is so tired from the day before but even as he drags himself to his feet he feels the crushing pressure drop away. He doesn't know what was causing it, but he's glad it's gone. The weakened, staggering man in his stylized shorts and his black body sleeve starts to stagger back towards the burning building bare foot trying to see any signs of anyone close to a window. If he could just figure out where they are he could grab one of them and oh, the ground is rushing up to his face again, damn you ground! He doesn't have time to play with you right now. Once more the wobbly, blackened man stands up from where he face planted and tries to get his balance searching the smoke for signs of trapped people as he continues to stagger closer. This reminds him of that one time they tried to rob an armored car when he was just starting out in crime. Panic, confusion, explosions, good times...Good times!

Anette shakes her head. "I don't know what I saw but it's not as obvious as these," she replies under her breath, beating her wings slightly, both to show off and to blow some air over Hailey's face. "If you're alright, just...stay safe. Help if you can," she quickly adds, standing back up and booking it towards the Lofts. After a few steps, she beats her wings, gaining height and she soars higher, aiming for the higher levels that would be too high to jump or otherwise be rescued. She circles the building, looking in windows and listening for signs of life, occasionally calling out.

There are quite a /few/ people visible in the building -- some on the lower floors are swarming /out/ of the building now but up higher there are people trapped, opening the hallway windows, perhaps cut off from the fire escapes by collapsing floors and fire. For Anette and Telford's searching they're occasionally rewarded with cries for /help/ from one apartment or another -- there's a /lot/ of units in the Lofts. A lot of units in the Lofts now with injured people.

Flicker glances up, wide-eyed. "It's bad. An explosion of -- some sort. I think on --" He looks over towards Micah, concerned. "-- the third floor. I didn't /see/ anything our apartment just -- just /exploded/ -- I'm sorry I have to get --" He shakes his head rapidly, looking to Hive for a long moment and then /vanishing/ again.

With the crush of pain and panic and stress and fear around him, Hive is currently -- not being /exceptionally/ useful. At least not outwardly. His grip on Micah's arm slackens, and slowly he sinks down to -- just sit right where he is on the ground, clamping his hands tight against his head. He's murmuring something to himself, though in mumbled-unhappy Thai it's anyone's guess /what/.

"Flicker!" Micah calls out at the familiar flash-in of the teleporter. "Ohgosh, did anyone else get out?" Then he sees the girl and moves in to check her immediately. "Not on the ground not on the ground with open third degree burns..." he mutters, tearing off his coat to throw it on the ground and gently lift the girl a bare inch off of the grass before placing her on it. Leaning in to check her breathing, he finds...not just erratic-gasping-halting breathing but fluttering gills on her neck. "Ohgosh, B..." The words are more /gasp/ than words, followed incongruously by shouting. "Hive! Sage! Somebody get my first aid kit and the AED...big yellow box next to it from the van...they're attached to the back door! Call 911 and make sure they send an ambulance /over here/, too." He pulls his keys from his pocket and /chucks/ them on the ground for somebody to pick up. His hands are busy with pushing B's gills down, getting in position and giving rescue breaths to force him to use his lungs.

Hailey winces a little bit her heart pounding. "I can help..." She groans a little bit, covering her face the best she can, moving away. She bites her lip. She's a punk but she has a conscience... "If I keep covered it should be okay." She sighs and looks around for a decent bit of shadow. She'd just run in, and run through grabbing people...first to find a good sized bit of shadow.

At this cry, Sage has abandoned her plan to run into the building, instead running over to the van, as she speaks to ATHENA. "ATHENA, 911." ATHENA rings in 911, as she's getting the supplies from the van. As she begins to trek back over, the phone picks up. "We need an ambulance at Tompkins Square Park immediately. People are injured. ASAP." She immediately hangs up, as she brings the stuff over to Micah, placing it next to him. "If you need me to do anything, say it."

There's a heavy flap of wings from above, a shower of ash and droplets of blood preceding Dusk's landing in the park. He's definitely not dressed for the weather, shirtless, barefoot, in jeans and nothing else; what /can/ be seen of his skin is largely bloody and blistering. He has his arms wrapped tight around Doug; there's probably a significant amount of /his/ blood on the other man in addition to any of Doug's own. He deposits Doug in the middle of the bright-coloured rainbow grass, not staying around long enough for -- well, anything, save a quick pleading: "Anette. Oh -- fuck -- please help." -- before taking off again to veer back towards the Lofts.

Talford once again teleports but this time he does it carefully, properly, building a glowing light inside his chest to protect him from the rigors of the port before he goes. Appearing in one of the windows on the floor above the fire he starts going through the smoke filled building porting people out as fast as he can to the sidewalk across the street from the burning building. There is no way he could make the trip back to the park as many times as needed but short trips, well prepared for, he hopes he won't pass out from the smoke before he can get them all.

One old lady, check! One young man, check! A few moments later a small girl and her very, very upset cat, check! He'll have claw marks on his arm for weeks. #1282$@$#1282# cats! He goes in one more time yelling while he is inside, "IF YOU CAN HEAR ME GET TO THE ROOF OF THE BUILDING!! WE HAVE SOMEONE TO CARRY YOU DOWN OUTSIDE!!! but without protective gear between the heat and the smoke he finds he can't even see to find anyone to save inside so finally he gives up and ports himself to where the ones he saved where dropped off. Hacking and coughing his skin covered in ash and reeking of smoke he once more tries his hand at winning a gold medal in the event of breathing.

Anette dives in through a broken window and, beating the smoke away with her wings, frantically looks around for the source of the scream she had just heard. She quickly locates a woman, barely concious, gasping for air. Anette quickly holds her up and half walks/drags the woman to the window before picking her up as best she can and diving out the window, using her wings to (mostly) gently coast to the ground. She gently lays the woman far enough from the building that's she not in any immediately danger and takes off again. She catches sight of Dusk as he takes off, quickly joining him mid-air. "Dusk...good, you're here," she calls out, glancing in windows again in search of victims.

"It's already...so cold out here ain't no need t'cool the burns. If there's clothing...melted in the burns, then just leave it. If there's loose clothes in the way, then...never/mind/, go check Doug out an' see if he has a pulse an' is breathin'." Micah's instructions /tumble/ out in the space of a breath, not sparing much time between breathing /for/ 'Bastian. The burns are just going to have to wait, breathing is more important. And monitoring his pulse to make sure no additional measures are needed. And keeping those gills down. Having extra hands would be /really/ helpful right now, stupid lack-of-mutant-abilities...

Hailey sighs a little bit and tightens her hoodie, taking a breath as she bites her lip. "Damn it, now's better than never." She runs at a shaded wall at full blast, focusing herself firmly as she tries to focus her destination as rooms inside the burning building. She keeps herself huddled and her hoody tight, running through an apartment at full blast, unfortunately tripping over a coffee table with a curse, ending up in a random second story house she calls out for any resident that might be there to try and help them out.

Doug's clothes are a mess, his Captain Caveman shirt spattered with both his and Dusk's blood -- at least on the front. The back is gone, torn away raggedly to reveal the primary source of his blood: his back looks like raw hamburger, bisected by a deep gash that still bleeds freely. The teenager clings to Dusk as the man touches down, hyperventilating in his panic as he's laid down. The shift of his body causes him to cry out (confirming his breathing status), and he releases Dusk, rolling to the ground and onto his side. That seems to be about all his pain will let him manage, and he lays there helplessly, watching the chaos with wide, empty eyes.

It's a good thing Sage goes for the first aid kit because Hive doesn't look like he's in any condition to go anywhere. His mind is elsewhere -- guiding Flicker in through the smoke to find people in places too dark-ashy to /see/. Which only means that when Flicker /returns/ (with a bloody-battered fish-gasping Shane in hand, to deposit him beside Sebastian), the teleporter is pretty seared-ashy himself. Which doesn't stop him from flitting /back/ into the building.

At Micah's instruction, Sage is running over to Doug, as she attempts to stop the bleeding. "Hello Doug. It will be alright. Remain calm, and everything will be just fine. Help is on the way." Sage bites her lip, a look of worry on her face. She did not calculate today at all. "Micah, he is bleeding very badly. What do I do?"

"The fire escape's broken around the third floor. People there and higher up won't be able to use it," Dusk tells Anette, hovering in midair for long enough to relay this. "Flicker's going to -- get who he can off the -- worst floors but people up top still need -- to get down." His words are kind of /ragged/-gasped, scratchy-hoarse before he takes off around the side of the building to just /smash/ in a window to pull himself in through.

Blessedly, 'Bastian starts breathing on his own again, leaving Micah a few moments to gasp and catch his own breath. His eyes widen as some of the burns on 'Bastian's skin start to /close/, flesh knitting beneath the bloody, oozing blisters that had been there before. "Oh, thank God, thank everythin', y'still have Chelsea's healin'!" The celebration is short-lived when Shane is suddenly pulling for air in front of him. With no coat left to offer to protect Shane's burns from the ground, he pulls off his polo shirt, leaving only the long-sleeved undershirt beneath it. He repeats the process of barely-lifting the other twin onto the shirt, moving in to press down gills and start rescue breathing for him, now. "First aid kit get /gauze/ only /gauze/ no cotton or things that will stick and put it over the wounds! There's sterile water in a bottle in the kit you can use to dampen them first but don't soak them! You can wrap it if you need to but not too tight!" And back to breathing.

Hailey runs through the apartment, seems like these people got out. She has to go up! She closes her eyes and runs at another wall, feeling her body pass through the shadow to end up a few floors up. The heat and flames are intense here. She runs rapidly and ends up tackling two panicking residents, she's not that strong but she's fast enough to ram them into a wall, ending up at the bottom of the building with a stumble a few seconds later, winded and in slight pain, the teleporting a bit difficult with more than just herself. She sets the residents down roughly and runs back into the wall for another save.

If Doug is hearing Sage, he makes no indication. His gaze is somewhere far away, and his jaw works silently. Well, almost silently. There's a small hoarse noise coming from his throat. He shivers in the cold, a full-body shudder that bucks under Sage's gentle touch.

Sage is moving for the first aid kit, grabbing sterile water and gauze, before rushing back towards Doug. "Like I said, it will be alright." Dampening the gauze, she puts it over Doug's wound, wrapping it gently. "This should stop the bleeding, I hope." Sage is breathing heavily herself, adrenaline pumping. "You will live." She's sticking by Doug's side right now until someone else comes forward, incase something else happens with him.

Anette also hovers long enough to get the message. "Third floor and up. Got it." She circles the building again, listening for screams. Unlike the others, she's not quite willing to risk her own life for an empty apartment; she's only going in on a certainty. She catches the sight of another woman, this time with two children, pounding desperately on a fifth floor window. She shoots up and, carefully kicking the window in, grabs the two children first. Holding them close to her body, she dives once more to the ground, setting the children safely with the other survivors.

She flies back up to the window but what had once been hazy is now thick with smoke, with a slight tint of red as the flames quickly spread. She makes her way in the window, tucking her wings in tight to her body for fear of accidentally finding flames. She eventually finds the woman, passed out on the ground, barely breathing and burn marks across her clothes and skin. She gently picks the woman up, hacking up a storm as she finds her way back to the window. She glides down to the first aid, not quite as gracefully as she had done before. Setting the woman down, she continues to cough and wheeze as the smoke begins to get to her. Once she regains her strength, she takes off again and repeats her search.

Hailey coughs a bit, her visible parts ashy, her hoody singed and burnt, it's synthetic so the flames don't so much burn as melt the garment. She ends up on the fifth floor and hears screaming. She sees a pair of kids trying to get out into the hallway, the door obviously aflame and unable to be opened. She runs towards them and tried to lift. She's not the strongest and she's getting pretty worn out but she looks around more. The smoke burning her eyes she moves along the wall, flames licking at her a bit till she feels the familiarity of shadow. She pushes herself through the wall and ends up at the base again. Coughing, smoldering in her hoodie, face and body ashy, as she sets the kids down. She hits her knees and begins to cough, the burning ashy air hurting her lungs.

Telford is the kind of person who looks out for number one and since there are other people already working to save people in the building, he thinks he's done enough that and he feels like his lungs are on fire. He isn't sure he can go back in again without ending up in the hospital and being a criminal, that would end poorly for him so one final time he ports over to where his gear was and gathers it up then crawls between the trees trying to use the brown coat to cover himself and keep himself out of sight at the base of the trees and bushes. He'll get out of dodge... you know.. once he is strong enough to walk. For now he's just going to lay here in the grass with his trench around him and hack up a lung.

After what seems like an eternity, Shane finally starts breathing with his face and lungs again instead of trying to utilise damaged gills out of water. “Good boy, good boy. Just keep breathin',” Micah mutters as he scuttles to the first aid kit to grab his own handfuls of gauze and bottle of water to start tending to Shane's burns. Unfortunately, /he/ lacks the Chelsea-factor for his healing and will have to do it the old-fashioned way. Or...at least the old-fashioned way with less impressive X-gene enhanced healing abilities. “Shh, honey, I've got you,” he instructs as he carefully covers and loosely wraps the burns. Micah spares a glance now and then for 'Bastian, making sure that the other twin is, indeed, still healing.

Rasa and Peter come down the side of the building and make their way out to medical care, dragging between them the bloody and burned Daiki. Rasa doesn't look much better, blistered chitin, cracked and a bit bloody, hair singed away and clothes in tatters. There is really nothing to see underneath them, sheathes of fingernail material covering hir entire form. Hir tail thrashes with agitation, hir steps stumble as ze tries to make out someone in particular to help with their ward. Any words ze tries to speak are rather lost in the throes of coughing. Ze drags a wrist across hir mouth and continues to stumble along. << Where the fuck do we go? >>

Hailey huffs hard, her breath crackling a little and her eyes dazed leads the four she helped from the side of the building to the people helping. Her hoodie burnt, melted, smouldered and showing bright red burnt skin. "Help....them.." She hisses a little before limping away carefully, that damned coffee table, the huge use of her power and the overbearing teleporting were a big strain on her.

Peter himself looks possibly a smidge better; his hoodie is half torn away, exposing dark, hexacomb-patterned body-armor beneath -- his chitin-clad face dark and flustered. There are scorch marks marring the length of his left arm and left side; his hair is smoldering, a few blisters marring his neck, throat, and jaw. As soon as they hit the ground, Peter is shoving Rasa toward -- the sirens, shaking his head as his hand briefly touches the back of hir neck. << Head toward the sirens. Find Shane, Sebastian -- make sure they're -->> Whatever else Peter was about to say, it's cut off by the sudden lack of contact -- because he's turned away, fishing something out of the tattered remains of his hoodie. A black mask with respirator, neatly folded in the central pocket -- he's slipping it on over his head. "--gotta find Jax, others," Peter huffs back to Rasa -- before -- THWP THWP THWP -- just like that, he's gone -- flinging through the air, back toward the burning building.

Doug flinches under Sage's touch, and there's a whimper of pain, but he otherwise doesn't seem to be aware that he's being tended to. His eyes start to cast about, seeking out anyone from the apartment he's just been evacuated from. When he spies Rasa and Daiki, he relaxes a tiny bit before his body tenses in pain again and immediately relaxes as he slips from consciousness.

The sounds of sirens draw nearer. Fire engines and ambulances swarm the building proper. Additional ambulances pull up closer to the park, thanks to Sage's call. Soon, paramedics are on the scene and assessing people with injuries, triaging, getting people onto stretchers and carting them off to be transported to medical care.

For his part, Micah is still working with Shane when the paramedics arrive. He insists on going along /with/ the twins and directing their care to the Clinic, where it is far more likely that they will actually be /tended/ as soon as they arrive. More hasty phone calls are placed in advance of their arrival.

As the ambulances pull up, Sage just sits down on the grass. She's upset. It's actually visible on her face, all over it, for once. "Fuck...this. Fuck this fuck this.".And then she's just lying back on the grass, closing her eyes.

Hailey hears the ambulances coming and freezes. "Shit....I need to get out now..." She clutches her obscuring hoodie tighter....what's left of it that is and heads towards an alley. "One more time, just one more..." She holds her breath and concentrates hard, pushing against a shadowed wall she feels it yield, albeit slowly. She passes through it and to a random place, anywhere away from here!

When the ambulances arrive, Rasa deposits hir precious cargo with one of the EMTs. Ze finds it a little difficult to back away from the injured classmate, but manages once professionals start to get to work. Ze pauses for a moment, to look around, scowling at the mess of people who are on the ground before turning to watch Peter charge back into the fray. After another second of debate, ze follows after him, keeping mostly to the outside of the building as ze starts ferrying people down on hir back.

Anette lands down on the ground, nearly dropping the man she had been carrying. She drops to her knees, her wings dropping, gasping from sheer exhaustion. She can pick up on the sirens coming miles before most of the others and takes a few moments to catch her breath before beating her wings one final time, taking to the air before the authorities arrive. Her flying isn't as high as she'd like and is a bit shaky but she'll make it far away enough not to be recognized as a mutant before collapsing to the ground. Hopefully.
