Introduction xxxxxSoft-spoken and mild-mannered, Bruce Banner fits many a stereotype of the shy genius. Those who know him better tend to class him more as a quietly mad scientist. History xxxxxYour character's background. Powers xxxxxBruce Banner himself has no superhuman capabilities, but extreme stress or excitement can trigger the emergence of the decidedly superhuman Hulk. Neither Banner nor the Hulk can control this transformation (which does not occur predictably or consistently), and neither retains memories of what happened to the other. The Hulk’s stature alone would make him formidable, but he also possesses immense strength, durability, and regenerative capabilities. xxxxxHe can punch through most normal walls, lift most automobiles (even throw smaller ones), and jump several storeys high. Small arms fire, conventional blades, have virtually no effect on him, and while high-powered weapons or adamantium blades can slow him down or even injure him, the damage does not persist for long. Open flames, electricity, and conventional explosives do not damage him, though they can impede his progress, stun him, or knock him back. Highly focused energy weapons can hurt him, and a nuclear blast or other comparable release of energy can destroy him. Powerful sedatives will subdue him, likewise telepathic suppression (although many telepaths may find his mind overwhelming or difficult to navigate. xxxxxAlthough the Hulk heals quickly, the injuries he sustains still cause him pain. Maintaining his immense form takes a great deal of energy, and the Hulk grows hungry very quickly. Even with adequate nutrition, their body cannot maintain the form for long--an hour at most, and proportionally less with increased activity or healing. Reverting to human form typically leaves Banner unconscious, and he wakes exhausted and starved. Skills xxxxxSuperbly intelligent and highly educated, his greatest strength lies in biochemical research and development. He utilizes both dogged methodical testing and daring leaps of insight in his work, and peers regard him as a rogue genius sadly given to quixotic pursuits and periods of mysterious absence. He does not possess a very good grasp of practical everyday skills, however, and has spent the majority of his adult life underemployed and impoverished.
