Introduction xxxxxAly is a darling: a sweet young woman who cares deeply and freely, and who still believes in the good in people and the possibility for it in the world, despite having Seen Some Shit. Occasionally too trusting, but time and experience have tempered her teenage inclination toward being a suicidal baby chicken; she is smarter than she necessarily seems at first, and has managed to pair a passion for art with an unexpected head for business to her general advantage. History xxxxxBorn in Yuma, raised in Phoenix, AZ Aly's cheerful and unremarkable early life was populated by her parents, a slightly-manipulative older sister, and the family dog; when she was thirteen her father's company transferred him (and the family!) to NYC, where Aly made her way through public high school as a sweet, bubbly, chatterbox girl right up until partway through her junior year when her vision started to improve //exceptionally// and the vertical inclination of her pupils and disquieting tendency to double-blink became more pronounced. Savings and connections earned her a place at Xavier's School, where things are never exactly //quiet//. (But that's okay: neither was she.) She managed to graduate, managed to learn the self-control required not to out herself every time she was startled (if not necessarily self-control in all ... other areas of her life.) During her time at Xavier's, the artistic Aly managed to stumble into a job as an apprentice in the advertising department of Plastic Plans - a company that, as it turned out, designed and manufactured sex toys. She remained with the company for several years, and her crowning achievement was the design of the My Little Porny toy line, a success she remains unabashedly, unashamedly proud of to this day. Careful investment and some slightly shady contract clauses gave her a neat little nest-egg by the time she got convinced to leave New York, post-graduation, for other exciting adventures and opportunities. Aly found her footing (and her calling) in California, where she jumped head first into life as a small business owner: despite the odds Carter's Confections and Creamery was the perfect shop in the perfect place at the perfect time. With a silent partner, a tiny apartment up above and Aly's bright and shining face at the counter, the store quickly became a popular spot in the San Jose suburb of Los Gatos. Aly and quiet life never //quite// seem to coincide, so even away from the mutant hub of NYC she still managed to have her life endangered in wildly improbable ways; that said she still managed to survive and flourish. The store has since been sold; 2014 sees her returning to New York for personal, rather than professional, reasons. Powers xxxxxAly has exceptionally, ridiculously good eyesight; a pair of nicitating membranes (second set of translucent inner eyelids) that she can control at will, and pupils that extend on the vertical rather than entirely in the round (as well as do that freaky reflective thing in the dark).
