He discovered and applied his mutation to the fashion industry, working his way through design school ( then F.I.T.) as a model and used his modeling to learn the industry and establish contacts. He started a business in late 2008, around the same time that he began dabbling in mutant rights. He was seen dating a relatively unknown mutant for a while, which caused a certain amount of speculation as to the real reason why he was interested. His flagship company, Halcyon Designs took off in early 2009, around the time that he took over as lead wardrobe designer of 'The Upper East,' a teen drama based in New York's Upper East Side, but filmed in Hollywood. His aesthetic strayed with the teen audience and inspired him to open a separate line of upscale school wear called Nikolai. xxxxxTragedy struck a couple years ago when a Eli's private plane went down in the Appalachian mountains, killing his pilot and rendering him in intensive care for months. While he appeared to make an amazing recovery physically, he chose to refrain from public appearances afterward. There is speculation that the reason why he turned over all ownership of his businesses to their respective boards, cut ties with his many year lover and adopted children, and gave power of attorney to his parents, is because the trauma of the crash was too much to bear afterward. Despite his reclusive nature, he continues to produce amazing clothes, including a line of club wear that borders on the eclectic in its use of vibrant colors and shapes (known as E.C.Night) as well as several individualized runway shows that more resemble art shows in their dramatic performance of avant garde clothing that is typically not for sale. xxxxxWhen he does make an appearance, he is never alone, relying on family or one of his three assistants, Missy, George, or Daiki to run interference between him and the outside world. Description xxxxxElias is tall, clearing six feet with ease. His body is slim toned and well proportioned, with long fingers and toes. His skin has olive tones of a Mediterranean descent, but tends toward the pale end of that scale. His eyes are a gray or slate blue, depending on the day and what he is wearing, their expression generally tends to be either distracted or stoic. His hair, kept longish to hide the ropey scars that criss cross his scalp, is dark brown, almost black, and wavy, the length often pinned back around his face in a more practical arrangement. He has a tattoo on the underside of his right wrist. Personality xxxxxEli's history has left him a changed man. One who once charged after the future with wanton abandon, he is now someone who pauses and considers before acting. He moves through each day as reserved as possible and when faced with opportunities to make decisions or voice his feelings, he appears to be more lost and confused than anything. He excuses himself when things become too emotionally involved and refrains from further contact whenever necessary. His passion and attention is entirely poured into his work, which he often chooses to do alone.
