Introduction xxxxxA dream is a wish your heart makes. History xxxxxStarting in early February, New York and its surrounding regions began undergoing a series of rather bizarre transformations. Around the city, people began waking up after vivid (and always pleasant) dreams with items from those dreams apparently manifested in real life. As time went on, these manifestations grew bigger and bigger -- eventually transforming the entire city, albeit for short periods at a time, with aspects silly or whimsical or downright surreal. None of these manifestations have proved in any way harmful, but they're definitely weird. ... additionally, a lot of the people whose dreams these projections seem to be coming from are turning up with things missing from their homes. Small things, generally not valuable in any sense except emotional; PROBABLY nobody is paying this much attention except for the people whose keepsakes are disappearing. Wednesday, 29 January - A "Hug Bank" appears downtown in Wall Street. The entire building seems to have spontaneously appeared overnight, made up to look just as large and imposing as the other financial fixtures down there, only upon going inside the bank is just what its name says -- cheerful tellers offering hugs rather than money. Google is even showing the hug bank on maps though any New Yorker can tell you it definitely wasn't there the day before. The Hug Bank lasts for about a week before simply disappearing, the buildings on the block filling its space as though it were never there. (+bbread 3/109) Sunday, 2 February - Through all of Sunday, the city is transformed into a very brightly and surreally coloured -- painting? At least, everything out-of-doors has been recoloured in an intensely whimsical-fantastical style (to anyone familiar with the art world, it's fairly recognizable as Jackson Holland's artistic style). Going indoors the effects fade, but as soon as anyone steps outside their clothing and anything "artificial" on them will recolour according to the vagaries of the bright city-painting. (+bbread 3/110) Tuesday, 4 February - From Tuesday morning through Wednesday afternoon, chocolate rain fall son the city. A steady fall of rich dark chocolate. It can be drunk straight or will thicken into mousse and eventually ice cream when left out for a few minutes in the cold. (+bbread 3/111) Saturday, 8 February - Throughout the weekend a tropical jungle has sprung up in the city, plant life unharmed by the bitter-cold weather and blossoming with flowers and a bounty of fruits. The plants don't seem to be impeding the streets or sidewalks, just springing up in free space to turn the city lush and green. (+bbread 3/113) Wednesday, 12 February - Everyone around New York wakes up to find themselves with a snowman-companion for the next two days who helps them out. A cheerful-friendly assistant, these snowpeople come with top hats and cheerful accessories styled in a reflection of their human companions and are always eager to help answer questions (like your own personal google!), carry packages, hail a taxi, help with fashion advice, play Frisbee, whatever. Their top hats and accessories can be kept even after the snowpeople have returned to inertness. (+bbread 3/114) Friday, 21 February - The buildings of the city have been restyled to look futuristic-sci-fi sleek. Additionally treasure troves of STARS (of all kinds of crafty varieties; knitted stars, BAKED cookie-stars, glitter-confetti stars, stained-glass stars, pretty rock-stars, glittery plastic stars; they come in endless types!) have been hidden all around the city, with cheerful messages attached and clues (often in riddle or poem form) as to where MORE caches of stars can be found on this city-wide scavenger hunt. (+bbread 3/116) Involved Characters Ash - dreamed up rockmonsters, got a rockgarden. Ducky - chocolatedream leading to chocolate rain, horus's tablet. Hive - stardream, leading to starhunting Horus - Shares chocolatedream with Ducky, first sign of him since vanishing during the zombieplague. Jackson - paintydream leading to painting the town technicolour Jim - forestydream leading to forestycity, magicpictures. Lucien - gardendream turnupped some flowers Maya - dreamweaver. connects dreamers, brings dreams to life. Matthieu - Shows up in gardendream with Lucien and Micah. Micah - Jaxdream made some Wishbears and dragonflies, then gardendream discovered Matthieu might still be alive. Thought he might be a mutant with dreampowers, but that turned out to be Maya's work in the end. Rasa - superherodream leading to hugbank, superhero costumes. Peter - superherodream leading to hugbank, superhero costumes, searchydream leading to compass. Sage - dreamed her mother's tastycooking. Shane - shares searchydream with Peter. Trib - dreamed a prizefight. Errata This plot is intended as a fun/lighthearted bit of silliness and chaos because there has been a lot of heavy sad terrible going around lately! I am happy to work with most any characters who want to get involved (even if they are not particularly lighthearted or silly themselves! can be fun to throw a bit of loop into a seriousface character's life!) but I am not wanting to introduce any particularly heavy violence/terrible into this TP, so please consider accordingly. If your char is a grumpyface jerk that is 100% fine, if you think your char is likely to haul off and stab someone, please note that I will discontinue involvement of any characters introducing too much Terrible into this particular plot. A note on Items Manifested After Dreams: Items manifested after dreams are real, solid, tangible items. They will stick around for some while after the dream has ended! They may or may not stick around forever! This depends on a number of variables and is largely up to the player who receives the item (if it is a personal item.) For personally received items, I am not giving any hard and fast LIMIT on how long items stick around. Theoretically, a dream-manifested item could remain in its owner's possession forever. But generally what happens is this: there are a number of factors weighing in to how long items remain real once they manifest in from dreams. How much the item is valued emotionally weighs into it, as does how "public" an item it is. The less public and more valued an item is, the longer it stays around. SO, for example: If someone receives an item, treasures it deeply, it is their own personal item, they use it every day and love it a lot, they may well keep it forever! If someone else receives an item, promptly tosses it in the back of the closet and forgets it? Probably two weeks later when they try to pull it out to show it to someone, they'll find that it has vanished.
