Am I always starting over in a brand new story?
Introduction

xxxxxShe's seen The Revolution, and she's not impressed.

Description

xxxxxA short and slender middle-aged woman. She has long black hair liberally shot through with silver, light brown skin, and dark brown eyes in an angular face. She is Hazara, but most Americans have difficulty placing her ethnicity and tend to guess she is Southeast Asian, Latina, or Native. She speaks English with a subtle Persian accent that most Americans also cannot place.

Reputation

xxxxxKnown among Prometheans as one of the Blackburn escapees, the only lab to liberate itself, and a steady, hardworking member of their community. Her former labmates (Blackburn and otherwise) remember her from the inside as quiet, reserved, and kid. Around Freaktown, she's made a name for herself as a storyteller and a survivor of Utopia who's pretty handy with a wide variety of maintenance/caretaking tasks.

History

xxxxxPiecing together some kind of personal history based on her stories isn't impossible, but it can be kind of surreal. Broadly, most people who know her now can agree she was a refugee from some kind of war in the '70s, ended up on the mutant island nation of Utopia somehow, had some years of weird and wonderful adventures, witnessed the fall of Utopia, got whisked away by witches, did a bunch of Communism, got pregnant, had a son, did a bunch more Communism, got thrown in jail about it, got thrown in Prometheus about that, broke out of Prometheus, then vanished...until now. The details on all of the above may vary wildly from person to person.

Powers

xxxxxShe can sense and manipulate the molecular properties and behavior of water. She cannot levitate water or otherwise make it defy the laws of physics, but can magnify or accelerate natural processes in ways that look like very much like they do. The properties she can affect include phase state, density, hydrodynamic stability, friction, surface tension, and other intermolecular forces.

Skills

xxxxxAnahita has led an extremely disrupted life, travelled much and relied on others little despite her highly communal philosophy, and so has picked up a wide variety of skills. Most of these are quite commonplace, and though she is generally competent she has honed few of them to mastery. Of those that she has honed, probably the most significant is managing men with large egos in such a way that they do not think they are being managed.

She is highly experienced in political organizing, which includes coordinating often very unorganized people as well as public speaking, logistics, operational security, and making the most of limited budgets. She has eclectic medical skills, primarily in first aid, herbal medicine, and midwifery. She is an excellent gardener, mainly of vegetables and herbs, although she has dabbled in growing crops and ornamental plants. She knows how to hunt well enough to supplement impoverished diets but not to subsist, and is a decent shot with longarms and bows. She is an excellent swimmer.

Though she never received any formal education, she is an avid reader in history, political and economic philosophy, sociology, religion, and hydrology. Dari is her first language, but not having spoken it since early childhood she is very rusty and far more fluent in English. She can speak Mandarin and Spanish reasonably well, and just enough badly accented and ungrammatical Arabic, Russian, and French for basic communication.

Weird auntie - Anahita isn't conventionally warm and solicitous, but strives to take care of her community and has a wide range of useful skills. Plumbing problem? She can take a look. Sick in bed? She'll make you soup and clean the house while she's at it. Need a trip sitter? She and her ginger lemon tea are there for you.
Practical radical - A quietly passionate second-generation communist, she has learned from, worked with, and loved comrades of many tendencies. Her organizing skills and experience can come in handy whether for long-haul coalition building or emergency actions.
Water witch - While not Wiccan herself, Anahita was raised by a Wiccan coven and has incorporated aspects of Neopaganism into her own syncretistic practices. She rarely identifies herself as a witch, but makes no secret of it in relevant conversations. She's much more reserved about the ways her spirituality encompasses her (mutant) power.
Big fish - She loves telling stories and is prone to embellishment. It's not always easy to tell if she's mildly exaggerating, framing something in a surreal way, outright fabricating, or not embellishing at all. Every word is true, of course.
Groundsfairy - Recently hired on as groundkeeper for Le Bonne Entente, Anahita can often be found in its conservatory and outdoor gardens. She's full of lore about the plants under her care, and might just show you some marvelous secret if you catch her at the right moment.
