Introduction

xxxxxEmma is all about protecting herself. She grew up in a rather cut throat family and has been hurt one too many times in the past. Straightforward and hard-nosed, she has every appearance of being completely truthful, but will fall back to deception when she feels that it will either benefit her or protect her in some way. She favors half truths and undisclosed details, but will not shy away from bold faced lying when the situation demands it. Underneath her hard exterior, she is an individual who wants to be loved and she turns to the physical when she doesn't trust anyone close to her heart. She is sex positive and very free with it, but is turned off a good deal of the time when dealing with extremely lewd individuals and those seeking to use her to their advantage without returning the favor - or worse, to degrade her by it. She definitely has a taste for the finer things in life, but is not afraid of getting her hands dirty. She also has a fairly strong desire to raise up a younger generation of mutants to help her out, but falls easily into a motherly attitude toward them, despite herself.

History

xxxxxEmma Frost is the daughter of wealthy and cruel conglomerate owner Winston Frost and prescription drug addicted mother Hazel Frost. She has two sisters and one brother. The eldest, Adrienne, cares for nothing except promoting her own agenda and taking over her father's business. The youngest, Cordelia, is subtle and devious, but ultimately unable to stay around people for long, due to her tendency to use them up. Christian, her brother, is loving and supportive, but has made the family mistake of being gay and is thus an outcast to his father.

xxxxxEmma is the willful and rebellious daughter, striving to be better. Nurtured when allowed to be at home by her brother, she seems to be the most well balanced of the group. Fate plays a cruel trick on her, cursing her with headaches that started at the age of ten and blossomed into telepathy. Unable to understand what is going on and to cope, she was sent to a mental institute until she was able to control and hide her abilities a little better. She returned to boarding school and was unable to make many friends due to her prior institutionalization. She found comfort as a seventeen year old with her teacher's affection. The affair was cut short by her sister Adrienne's meddling, which Emma turned around on her by exposing her secrets to her father.

xxxxxShe cut ties with her family at the age of eighteen, after blackmailing her father for money, which she spent entirely on school tuition. She earned a double major in business management and electrical engineering, and took her time doing it. She attempted to ride out the country's economic crisis by pursuing her second major in engineering, but found the country not much better after that, especially with the catastrophe of the Liberty Island incident shortly before her graduation. She decided to dabble in education when she was outed by another telepath on campus, which ruined her reputation at school and her ability to get graduate work and references. In a moment of anger, she wiped the mind of the woman who outed her, surprising herself with the devastating strength of her powers. At the end, she found herself without a penny, no desire to turn back to her family, and paranoid about drawing attention to her gifts.

xxxxxAfter a brief stint of homelessness, Emma turned to entry level jobs and menial work, but found herself unimpressed with the daily grind of the world outside of school. She chose instead to reach out once more - to try her hand at faster paced advancement.

Powers

xxxxxEmma Frost's powers are based in telepathy. She is a strong broadcast and receptive telepath, with the ability to alter perceptions and memories, psychic shielding, mental sedation and the induction of mental pain through touch. She best at one on one encounters, but can control three or four people in a room if needed to.

Connections

Using

  • Lucien Tessier - Persuasive - good for self care as well.
  • Parley - Interesting, inventive - but needs some self preservation.

Used by

  • Norman Osborn - Oscorp Gala - May come after Emma for failing to keep telepaths from the party.

Somewhat Useless

  • Doug Ramsey - More interested in shaming his mother than impressing people. Avoid.
  • Jackson Holland - He can be convinced to save people when his altruistic side is engaged. Otherwise, avoid.
  • Claire Basil - Demanding and super sweet good. Connect others to her, avoid personal interaction.

Keeping Options Open

  • Elliott Carruthers - Love a strong woman in a man's world, a little concerned she's anti-mutant, instead of just traumatized by them.
  • Daedalus - Information source or more problems?
  • Hive - Architect - Owes Emma for ending his deportation issues, but if he can't learns some shielding, he'll be useless.
  • Nox - Makes things complicated with Lucien, but it's not her fault he has feelings. Very beautiful.
  • Peter - Boy may get himself killed before he has a chance to grow up, but isn't he a wealth of information.
