Introduction xxxxxWalking tape recorder. Description xxxxxAt 5'8", Echo is tall for the Chinese-American teenager she is but lacks much of a presence -- her movements tend to be relaxed-but-reserved, though it's not hard to get her to smile. Her collarbone-length black hair is straight and thick. She's almost always just wearing her tortoiseshell glasses, some genre of t-shirt, jeans and sneakers, and a hoodie when it's cold, and she often has earbuds in. Echo's build is fairly straight up-and-down, carrying more muscle in her lower than upper body. Reputation xxxxxClassmates may know that Echo arrived at Xavier's in the spring of 2023 and somewhat promptly became one of the kids that landed themselves in Lassiter. Otherwise not very high-profile -- may be known for having her hand in a smattering of different music things and sharing whatever she's baking if you run into her in the kitchen. Never instigates trouble but game to participate and easily influenced by friends. History xxxxxEcho had a classic sheltered middle-class immigrant childhood in the suburb of Eden Prairie: lots of little activities, a domineering mother, trying to be Midwestern enough to fit in. Being a mutant seemed fun and harmless at first, until it started uncontrollably manifesting whenever she tried to prove something in all-too-frequent arguments. Apparently fairly useless mutant powers look like cheating to schools and make you a bad influence on little sisters, so after a failed attempt at a different boarding school, Echo ended up at Xavier's and hasn't been welcome home since. Post ill-advised group detour, she's managed to make Xavier's feel reasonably like home. Powers xxxxxEcho is an audiokinetic who can perfectly reproduce sounds she's heard (audible, 20 Hz to 20 kHz). Can cut out background noise if she was focused on the sound. A useful memory aid, as long as she can remember that it happened (a bit of a circular problem). Passively, she has immunity to cochlear damage from audible soundwaves as well as perfect pitch. She has some ability to modulate volume and location of the replay.
